How to use the Team Working-Hours Overlap Heatmap

Use this to find candidate meeting hours across three locations when all groups follow the same stated local work window. It makes the shared UTC hours visible without assuming a fixed offset.

  1. What to enter

Choose the local date, three named time zones, and a common start and end hour. The same hours are applied in each zone; individual schedules are not entered separately.

  2. Worked example

On 15 January 2025, New York, London, and Paris at 09:00–17:00 share two full UTC hours.

  3. How to read the result

Every row is a UTC hour. Active A/B/C identifies the zones within their local window, and Active count makes full three-way overlap easy to spot. Stronger shading marks larger counts.

How the result is worked out

For each UTC hour, convert to all three zones and mark a person active only on the selected local date within the shared entered work-hour window.

What to check

This is hourly resolution, with the same local hours for all three. It does not infer breaks, holidays, or individual schedules.

A common mistake to avoid

This is hourly resolution. It cannot represent half-hour meetings, breaks, leave, or different personal schedules; verify a candidate time with each attendee.

Named time-zone results use the time-zone data installed in your browser. Future rules can change. How JavaScript handles named time zones

Questions to check

Why does overlap change during the year?

Time zones can change offsets on different dates; the browser’s installed time-zone data supplies the dated offsets.

Can each location have different working hours?

Not in this version. The entered start and end hours are shared by all three zones.

Does a highlighted hour guarantee everyone is available?

No. It only means the hour falls inside the modeled work window in each zone; calendars and individual availability are separate.
