How to use the Weekly Grocery Budget Tracker
Use this while planning a grocery trip or reconciling receipts against one weekly spending cap. Grouping purchases by aisle or meal can make the running balance easier to act on.
What to enter
Enter the weekly cap and one named amount per line. Repeat an item name if it appears on multiple receipts. Keep purchases in the same currency and week, including tax or delivery when they count.
Worked example
A 120.00 cap with produce 35.00, dairy 18.50, and pantry 40.00 leaves 26.50.
How to read the result
Each row shows the balance after that item. A negative balance identifies where the plan crossed its cap; the summary reports total spending and the final signed balance.
Method
Add each entered cost in cents, subtract the running sum from the weekly cap, and show a signed balance after every row.
What to check
This is a manual weekly snapshot. It does not connect to a bank, remember prior visits, predict food prices, or adjust for a different currency.
Avoid this mistake
Mixing prices before tax with receipt totals after tax creates a false remaining balance. Choose one consistent definition of cost.
Calculations run locally in your browser. No entered values are sent to the Nirmion API.
Questions to check
Can I enter broad groups?
Yes. A row can represent a full receipt or a category such as produce, provided names remain unique.
What does a negative balance mean?
The entered purchases exceed the cap by the displayed absolute amount.
Are entries saved?
No. The calculation stays in the browser; download the table if you need a record.
