Ratio Scale-Up and Down Table
Scale both terms of a positive ratio toward a target first term and inspect intermediate factors in an exportable table.
A 2:3 ratio with a target first term of 8 becomes 8:12. Three intervals show factors 1, 2, 3, and 4.

How to use the Ratio Scale-Up and Down Table
Use this for recipe, material, or planning ratios when you want to see a progression, not only the final equivalent ratio. One page handles growth and reduction.
What to enter
Enter positive starting terms, a positive target for the first term, and 1 to 20 intervals. A target below the original first term scales down.
Worked example
A 2:3 ratio with a target first term of 8 becomes 8:12. Three intervals show factors 1, 2, 3, and 4.
How to read the result
Each row shows the common multiplier and both resulting terms. The final row has the requested first term and the proportional second term.
Method
Divide the desired first term by its original term to obtain the final factor. Interpolate evenly from factor 1 to that factor and multiply both terms by each factor.
What to check
The table uses real-number scaling and does not constrain results to whole-number batches, recipes, or indivisible materials.
Avoid this mistake
Scaling only one term changes the ratio. Apply the same factor to both terms before rounding real-world quantities.
Calculations run locally in your browser. No entered values are sent to the Nirmion API.
Questions to check
Why combine scale-up and scale-down?
The proportional operation is the same; the target determines the direction. A single table avoids duplicate worksheets.
Are the steps compound growth?
No. The factors are evenly spaced between the starting factor and target factor.
Can I use zero in a ratio?
This page requires positive terms so the target factor is defined.
