Before generation
Use this calculator to show how point-denominator choices affect a course grade and to plan achievable recovery work. It does not decide whether work should be accepted or excused.
EDUCATION DECISION WORKBENCH
Compare zero, recovery, full-credit, and excused-denominator scenarios for listed missing work.
Review output
Load the worked example to inspect realistic inputs, or enter anonymous, policy-approved information. Results remain in this browser tab until you copy or download them.
Transparent method
Zero scenario = earned ÷ (possible + missing). Recovery = (earned + missing × recovery rate) ÷ (possible + missing). Excused = earned ÷ possible. The recovery impact is the percentage-point difference between the zero and entered-recovery scenarios. Use it to prioritize work, then verify deadlines and policy with the educator.
Verify which points are already in the gradebook.
Compare scenarios and the assignment list.
Agree on allowed recovery actions through the official course process.
How to interpret the result
Use this calculator to show how point-denominator choices affect a course grade and to plan achievable recovery work. It does not decide whether work should be accepted or excused.
The example compares 372 of 450 graded points with 75 missing points. Recording zeros, recovering 70%, recovering 100%, and excusing the items produce separate visible scenarios.
Do not enter assignments already counted in the gradebook denominator, mix category weights with points, or treat the excused scenario as permission.
Learning boundary
The calculator cannot authorize late work, reassessment, minimum grades, or excusal.
