The source value is multiplied by its reviewed newton factor, then divided by the destination factor. Standard gravity is used only inside kilogram-force and pound-force definitions; no local gravitational field is inferred.

Why is kilogram-force different from kilogram?

Kilogram is a unit of mass, while kilogram-force is a conventional force equal to the weight of one kilogram under standard gravity. This converter uses the defined kilogram-force factor of 9.80665 newtons. It does not estimate local weight, which can vary slightly with gravitational acceleration and elevation.

Can I use the result for a lifting or structural design?

Use the conversion as a unit check, not as a design approval. A safe lifting or structural decision also depends on load direction, distribution, dynamic effects, material properties, connections, code requirements, uncertainty, and an appropriate safety factor. Why does the converter reject negative force values?
