No file is selected and no API request carries the generated value. The password exists only in this browser page until reset, refresh, or close.
LOCAL SECURITY CONVERTER / ARCHIVE PASSWORD GENERATOR
Archive Password Generator
Generate a strong random password locally for a ZIP, 7Z, or other archive using browser cryptographic randomness and explicit character rules.
The converter creates a separately named output. It never writes back into the source file.
Generate 12 to 64 characters from at least one enabled group. The result exists only in this page and is not saved, uploaded, recoverable, or automatically applied to an archive.
Plain-language method
How Archive Password Generator works
The browser builds the chosen character pool, uses rejection-sampled crypto.getRandomValues indexes to avoid modulo bias, guarantees every enabled group is represented, securely shuffles the characters, and reports an approximate search-space size.
- 01Set the generation rules
No file or personal information is needed. Configure rules that the destination archive application accepts.
- 02Review the conversion choices
Twenty or more characters with lowercase, uppercase, digits, and symbols is a strong general default. Excluding ambiguous characters helps when a password must be typed manually.
- 03Inspect the separate result
Copy the password into your archive application and store it in a trusted password manager before closing this page. The TXT download is convenient but should be protected or deleted securely after storage.
Useful when
Practical jobs this tool handles
- Protect a new ZIP or 7Z with a unique password.
- Avoid reusing an account password for an archive.
- Create a typeable password without ambiguous characters.
Before converting
Check the source and destination rules
- Confirm the archive software accepts the selected symbols.
- Store the password before leaving the page.
- Share the archive and password through separate trusted channels.
Know the boundary
Know what the destination format cannot keep
Nirmion cannot recover this value after reset or refresh. Password strength also depends on archive encryption, software settings, secure storage, and how the password is shared.
Quick answers
Questions before you convert
The conversion contract is deliberately explicit.
Is the password sent anywhere?
No. Generation uses Web Crypto in this browser and does not call the Flask API.
What does estimated bits mean?
It approximates the size of the selected character search space; it is not a guarantee against weak archive encryption or password exposure.
Does this encrypt my archive?
No. Apply the generated password in trusted archive software that supports authenticated modern encryption.
