How energy, mass, and temperature intervals share one SI basis

The factor converts energy to joules and mass to kilograms while preserving temperature-interval size. Kelvin and degree Celsius intervals are equal in magnitude; calorie and BTU entries remain explicitly tied to their thermochemical or IT conventions.

Why are J per gram kelvin and kJ per kilogram kelvin numerically equal?

A joule per gram kelvin and a kilojoule per kilogram kelvin use prefixes that scale energy and mass by the same factor. Their numeric values therefore match, even though their written units differ. The converter still retains both labels so values can match the notation required by a source or report.

Is a kelvin interval different from a degree Celsius interval here?

For temperature differences, one kelvin and one degree Celsius have the same size. Their zero points differ for absolute temperatures, but specific heat uses an interval in the denominator. This conversion therefore needs no affine offset. Do not apply that reasoning when converting an absolute temperature reading between scales.

Can this calculate the heat needed to warm a material?

Not by itself. A simple sensible-heat estimate also requires mass and temperature change, plus a specific heat appropriate across that range. Phase transitions, chemical change, heat loss, varying properties, mixing, and pressure effects may require a more complete model. This page only normalizes the supplied property units.
