The source value is multiplied by its pascal-second factor and divided by the destination factor. One centipoise equals one millipascal second, while pound-based units retain their complete length and time denominators.

Is one centipoise equal to one millipascal second?

Yes. The numeric values are equal because one centipoise is exactly 0.001 pascal second, which is one millipascal second. That identity changes only the unit expression. It does not mean a fluid retains the same viscosity when temperature, pressure, composition, shear rate, or test method changes.

Can I enter kinematic viscosity in centistokes?

No. Centistokes measure kinematic viscosity with dimensions of area per time, while centipoise measure dynamic viscosity. Converting between them requires the fluid density at compatible conditions. This selector deliberately excludes stokes and centistokes so the two physical quantities cannot be mixed by a label-only conversion.

Why must measurement conditions remain with viscosity?

Viscosity can vary strongly with temperature and may also depend on pressure, composition, shear rate, elapsed shear history, and instrument method. The converter assumes the source value is already valid for the intended conditions. Preserve those conditions and uncertainty whenever comparing specifications or using the result in engineering calculations.
