One-Income Budget Stress Test
Model a loss of part of monthly household income and compare the remaining income with essential expenses and an entered cash buffer.
From 4,000.00 combined income, remove 1,800.00 and compare 2,200.00 remaining with 2,500.00 essentials. The monthly gap is 300.00; 900.00 covers three full gaps.

How to use the One-Income Budget Stress Test
Use this to rehearse a household income interruption using your own net-income and essential-spending assumptions.
What to enter
Enter current combined monthly take-home income, the monthly amount removed in the scenario, essential monthly expenses, and an available cash buffer.
Worked example
From 4,000.00 combined income, remove 1,800.00 and compare 2,200.00 remaining with 2,500.00 essentials. The monthly gap is 300.00; 900.00 covers three full gaps.
How to read the result
A negative surplus or gap indicates a shortfall. Full buffer months counts only complete modeled monthly gaps, not partial months or emergency access delays.
Method
Subtract removed income from combined income, floor remaining income at zero, then subtract monthly essentials. If there is a gap, divide the buffer by its absolute value for full months covered.
What to check
This is one static scenario, not a prediction or financial advice. Benefits, taxes, severance, new costs, reduced spending, and timing are excluded.
Avoid this mistake
Assuming all expenses stay unchanged while some may rise or fall, or including money that is unavailable as an immediate cash buffer.
Calculations run locally in your browser. No entered values are sent to the Nirmion API.
Questions to check
Is this a recommended buffer size?
No. It only calculates the scenario entered.
What if removed income exceeds current income?
Remaining income is shown as zero, not negative.
Does it predict unemployment duration?
No. It reports arithmetic for your chosen scenario.
