EDUCATION DECISION WORKBENCH

Actionable Feedback Checker

Inspect feedback for evidence, a concrete revision action, goal alignment, and a next attempt.

Runs in this browser tabEditable downloadUp to 500 structured rows and 30,000 characters per field. Use anonymous or fictional labels.

Learning inputs

Build the actionable feedback checker

Describe the assignment, paste de-identified feedback, and enter the actual success criteria one per line. The tool cannot see the learner work.

Generation uses only the information entered in this tab. It does not fetch sources or make student decisions.

Transparent method

How the actionable feedback checker works

Five pattern checks look for an evidence location, concrete revision verb, criterion link, future-focused wording, and more than empty praise. Each present signal contributes one point. Four or five signals suggest that the comment contains usable components. Human review must still confirm that the feedback is accurate, proportionate, accessible, and responsive to the actual work.

  1. 01
    Before generation

Read the work and approved criteria.

  2. 02
    During review

Check evidence, action, purpose, and tone.

  3. 03
    Before use

Invite clarification and give time to apply the feedback.

How to interpret the result

Actionable Feedback Checker

Before generation

Use this before sending feedback when a comment sounds positive or critical but may not tell the learner what evidence prompted it or what to do next.

Worked example

The example identifies the claim as evidence, asks for a source-based example after sentence two, and connects the revision to a success criterion. All five disclosed signals are present.

Formula or methodology

Five pattern checks look for an evidence location, concrete revision verb, criterion link, future-focused wording, and more than empty praise. Each present signal contributes one point.

How to interpret the result

Four or five signals suggest that the comment contains usable components. Human review must still confirm that the feedback is accurate, proportionate, accessible, and responsive to the actual work.

Common mistakes

Do not add generic praise, list too many actions, rewrite the work for the learner, expose private information, or assume a keyword score proves quality.

Learning boundary

The checker cannot see learner work

It detects wording patterns only. A teacher must verify accuracy, fairness, accessibility, and context.

Review checklist

Human review before educational use

  • The feedback names observable evidence.
  • The next action is specific and manageable.
  • The action connects to a learning goal.
  • The learner has an opportunity to use it.

Practical questions

Actionable Feedback Checker questions

Does a 5/5 score mean the feedback is correct?

No. It means five wording signals were detected; factual and pedagogical review remains necessary.

Can I paste student work?

The tool does not need it. Enter only de-identified feedback text.

Should every comment include all five signals?

Use judgment. Short confirmations and longer revision guidance serve different purposes.
