STEM REASONING AND EVIDENCE WORKBENCH

Worked Example Fading Analyzer

Review staged reductions in supplied solution steps alongside anonymous success evidence for each skill sequence.

Runs in this browser tabEditable downloadUp to 500 structured rows and 30,000 characters per field. Use anonymous or fictional labels.

Learning inputs

Build the worked example fading analyzer

Enter a fictional analysis label and minimum sustained success percentage. Add skill | numbered stage | total solution steps | provided steps | anonymous attempted responses | successful responses rows. Repeat a skill across at least two ordered stages, keep the intended skill and difficulty comparable, and use aggregate counts without learner names, identifiers, disability data, or individual grades.

Generation uses only the information entered in this tab. It does not fetch sources or make student decisions.

Transparent method

How the worked example fading analyzer works

Support share equals provided steps divided by total solution steps times one hundred. Success rate equals successful responses divided by attempted responses times one hundred. After sorting rows by stage, the sequence meets the rule only when every later support share is no greater than the prior share and every stage success rate is at least the entered floor. A ready sequence satisfies the disclosed numeric rule; it does not show that learners used the intended reasoning or retained the skill. A review status can reflect premature fading, a harder task, unclear prompts, inaccessible notation, insufficient instruction, or ordinary sampling variation. Inspect actual work and restore or redesign guidance before interpreting the aggregate.

  1. 01
    Before generation

Confirm the question, approved source, units, notation, signs, response coding, model assumptions, and review threshold. Keep an unchanged copy of measurements or learner evidence.

  2. 02
    During review

Run the worked example, inspect every intermediate row, and compare the result with a hand calculation, diagram, representation, periodic table, or approved laboratory method.

  3. 03
    Before use

Record the method, assumptions, uncertainty, units, classifications, and flagged rows. Verify the editable report independently before instruction, assessment, or laboratory use.

How to interpret the result

Worked Example Fading Analyzer

Before generation

Use when a teacher has designed completion problems or faded worked examples and wants a transparent check that support decreases while success remains above a local planning floor. The analyzer describes the entered sequence. It does not establish causal learning gains, score reasoning quality, compare unequal tasks, prescribe a universal threshold, diagnose a learner, select placement, or authorize removal of accommodations.

Worked example

Linear-equation examples move from four of four supplied steps to two of four and then zero of four; anonymous success remains 80, 80, and 70 percent, so that sequence meets a 70-percent floor. Stoichiometry support also decreases, but success falls to 50 percent at its least-supported stage, so the sequence is marked for review before further fading.

Formula or methodology

Support share equals provided steps divided by total solution steps times one hundred. Success rate equals successful responses divided by attempted responses times one hundred. After sorting rows by stage, the sequence meets the rule only when every later support share is no greater than the prior share and every stage success rate is at least the entered floor.

How to interpret the result

A ready sequence satisfies the disclosed numeric rule; it does not show that learners used the intended reasoning or retained the skill. A review status can reflect premature fading, a harder task, unclear prompts, inaccessible notation, insufficient instruction, or ordinary sampling variation. Inspect actual work and restore or redesign guidance before interpreting the aggregate.

Common mistakes

Do not compare different skills as one sequence, treat fewer printed words as less cognitive support, hide unsuccessful attempts, increase task difficulty while attributing the change to fading, use a single class percentage as a diagnosis, remove required accommodations, or fade every step at once. Keep stages aligned, inspect errors, offer self-explanation, and reassess access.

Learning boundary

A calculated signal still requires subject review

This browser-local workbench applies only the disclosed rules. It cannot diagnose a learner, certify an experiment, establish a chemical structure, or replace teacher, laboratory, and safety judgment.

Review checklist

Human review before educational use

  • Every value, symbol, unit, classification, date, and response matches the source evidence.
  • The disclosed model matches the course method and intended question.
  • Intermediate rows and conflicts have been inspected rather than using only the headline.
  • A teacher or learner verifies the report independently and records corrections.

Practical questions

Worked Example Fading Analyzer questions

Does Nirmion upload these inputs?

No. Processing occurs in the current browser tab. Avoid personal information and retain authoritative records only in the school-approved system.

Can this result prove understanding or a scientific law?

No. It describes entered evidence under one disclosed rule. Compare several evidence sources and ask for reasoning before drawing a conclusion.

Can I submit the downloaded report as finished work?

Treat it as an editable calculation aid. Show your own reasoning, cite required sources, and follow the course method and academic-integrity rules.
