Drop your image here

Or browse for a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image that you own or are authorised to edit.

One file · up to 20 MB · maximum 50 megapixels

Step 2 / Output

Balance detail and size

Re-encode the full image at its original dimensions. Quality affects JPEG and WebP output.

Download nameThe output uses the suffix _nirmion_tools_compressed and your chosen format.
Keep this page open until the download begins.
01No server upload

The selected image is decoded and re-encoded inside this browser tab.

02Working copy released

After download, the preview URL, decoded bitmap, canvas, and selected source reference are cleared.

03Your download remains

Nirmion cannot remove the finished file from your device or browser download history.

Workflow guide

A practical image compression pass

Prepare lighter assets while keeping the source dimensions and controlling the visual tradeoff.
A

What you need

Use one still JPEG, PNG, or WebP image up to 20 MB and 50 megapixels.

B

Social-ready choices

Quality around 75-85% is a useful starting point for feed images; inspect text, logos, and gradients before publishing.

C

What you receive

A newly encoded image downloads automatically, then the selected working file is cleared from the page.

Decision guide

Choose compression by what the audience will notice

File-size savings are useful only when the image still communicates clearly on its final screen. A thumbnail tolerates more compression than a portfolio image or product close-up.

JPEG and WebP quality is not a universal percentage of visual fidelity. Encoders respond differently to noise, gradients, typography, and repeated edits, so the result card reports bytes while your eyes make the final decision.

Where compression helps

  1. Reduce a feed image before uploading over a slower mobile connection.
  2. Prepare lighter website hero and article images without changing their layout dimensions.
  3. Create message-friendly copies of camera images while keeping the original untouched.

Good to know

Important image boundaries

Why might a PNG not become smaller?
PNG is lossless and browsers do not expose a quality control for it. Choose WebP or JPEG when reducing file size matters more than exact lossless pixels.
Are animated images supported?
No. The workspace accepts still JPEG, PNG, and WebP files. Re-encoding an animated source would otherwise keep only one frame.
What does clearing the file mean?
Because processing is local, there is no Nirmion server copy to delete. The tab releases its working references after success; your downloaded output remains on your device.
