BUILT AROUND THE TASK

Check a website before launch

Review the search-facing details before making a site public. Prepare page titles and descriptions, inspect canonical URLs, and review crawl instructions and the sitemap together.

USE WITH CONTEXT

Before you use these tools

A robots.txt rule controls crawling; it does not reliably remove a URL from search results. Review indexing separately and never use crawl rules as access control.

A PRACTICAL ROUTE THROUGH THE SHELF

From raw input to reviewed output

  1. 1

    Describe each page

Write a title and description that match the actual content. Preview the wording, checking that important information is easy to understand.

  2. 2

    Review discovery settings

Check canonical destinations, crawl instructions, and sitemap entries against the URLs you intend to publish.

  3. 3

    Inspect the deployed site

Open the final URLs and inspect the rendered metadata. Confirm that redirects, access rules, and indexing settings match the release plan.

Questions before you start

Will submitting a sitemap guarantee indexing?

No. A sitemap helps search engines discover URLs, but it does not guarantee crawling, indexing, or ranking. Include useful, accessible pages with consistent canonical URLs and check the actual deployed responses.
