How to use the School Day Count Planner

Use this to estimate instructional weekdays between two dates from a school calendar you already have. Monthly rows help you check where closure dates reduce the count.

  1. What to enter

Enter the first and last date, including both endpoints, then list holidays, breaks, and closures as dates. The range is limited to 367 inclusive calendar days.

  2. Worked example

For 6–10 January 2025 with 8 January closed, the count is four days.

  3. How to read the result

The summary totals eligible weekdays. Each monthly row shows how many days from that month remain after supplied closures; compare the rows with the school's published calendar.

How the result is worked out

Count each weekday from the start through the end date, then exclude the closure dates you enter. Results are grouped by month.

What to check

School systems may teach on weekends or close for dates you have not supplied. The range is limited to 367 inclusive calendar days.

A common mistake to avoid

Schools may teach on weekends, observe local holidays, or schedule non-teaching weekdays. This simple weekday model cannot infer those exceptions unless the excluded dates are supplied.

Only dates you enter as holidays or closures are excluded; no country calendar is fetched.

This tool calculates in your browser. The dates you enter are not sent to the Nirmion API.

Questions to check

Are school holidays included automatically?

No. Enter holidays and closures from the school’s own calendar.

Are the start and end dates counted?

Yes, when those dates are Monday–Friday and are not listed as closures. The range is inclusive.

Can I count a school that teaches on Saturday?

Not accurately with this model. It starts from a Monday–Friday week and cannot add Saturday instructional days.
