LOCAL DOCUMENT CONVERTER / RTF TO PDF

RTF to PDF

Extract readable text from a bounded Rich Text Format document and place it in a searchable, paginated PDF.

Processed in this browserOne .rtf file up to 2 MB and 250,000 extracted characters. Latin-script text only, with a 500-page output limit.

Drop one file here

Choose an RTF document when the wording matters more than reproducing its exact formatting.

Checking publication status...

01
No file upload

This operation runs with browser APIs. Nirmion receives catalogue requests, not the selected source bytes.

02
Original stays unchanged

The converter creates a separately named output. It never writes back into the source file.

03
Bounded work

One .rtf file up to 2 MB and 250,000 extracted characters. Latin-script text only, with a 500-page output limit.

Plain-language method

How RTF controls become readable text

Nirmion reads common RTF text, Unicode, paragraph, line, tab, quote, dash, and bullet controls. Font tables, pictures, objects, headers, footers, metadata, and other non-body destinations are skipped.

  1. 01
    Choose a valid source

Use a genuine RTF file. If precise fonts, columns, images, headers, or tracked layout matter, export from the authoring application instead.

  2. 02
    Review the conversion choices

Choose A4 or Letter and an 8 to 18 point base size. A larger size is easier to read but creates more pages.

  3. 03
    Inspect the separate result

The searchable PDF ends in _nirmion_tools_rtf.pdf. It preserves extracted wording, not full rich-text appearance.

Useful when

Practical jobs this tool handles

  • Make a legacy text memo easier to print.
  • Share readable wording without embedded RTF objects.
  • Create a quick review copy of an RTF export.

Before converting

Use the right fidelity level

  • Check tables, lists, and special symbols after export.
  • Compare important legal wording with the source.
  • Use the original application for signature or layout-sensitive documents.

Know the boundary

Formatting is deliberately flattened

Images, fonts, colours, fields, headers, footers, footnotes, tables, and page geometry can be omitted or simplified. This route is not a fidelity-preserving RTF print engine.

Quick answers

Questions before you convert

The output is designed for reading and search.

Are embedded pictures included?

No. Picture and object destinations are skipped rather than decoded.

Is the PDF text searchable?

Yes, for the supported Latin-script characters extracted from the RTF.

Why are some layouts flattened?

The browser parser reads text controls, not the full desktop word-processing layout model.
