How every mass rate passes through kilograms per second

The source mass unit is converted to kilograms and its time denominator to seconds within one factor. The resulting kilograms per second are divided by the destination factor, preserving tonne, pound, minute, and hour conventions explicitly.

Is mass flow the same as weight flow?

Mass flow describes mass transported per time and is independent of local gravitational acceleration. Weight is force and would require a gravitational field value. This converter uses kilograms, grams, tonnes, and pounds as mass units within rates; it does not convert the result to newtons or pound-force per time.

Can I use density to compare this with a volumetric flow meter?

Yes, but that is a separate calculation. Multiply volume flow by density only when both refer to compatible temperature, pressure, composition, and averaging conditions. For gases or changing mixtures, density can vary substantially. Document the state and basis instead of applying a nominal value without qualification.

Does the converter total the mass moved during a shift?

No. Total mass requires integrating rate over elapsed time. Multiplying one constant rate by a duration is valid only if that rate reasonably represents the whole interval. Variable processes require timestamped measurements or another integration method, plus treatment of downtime, missing samples, meter resets, and uncertainty.
