Prepare the evidence

Paste the documented CSV schema or choose a local CSV file. Nothing is sent to Nirmion.

Choose one label for this run. Values are not converted between currencies.

Rows older than this number of days are flagged for review. The tool does not automatically update evidence.

Required headers: snapshot_date,account,type,value,evidence_date,note. Type accepts asset or liability.

Method and interpretation

How to use Net Worth Evidence Reconciler

Use this reconciler for a periodic net-worth review when the headline number must be tied back to statements or valuation evidence. It compares the earliest and latest dates in one file, identifies accounts that appeared or disappeared, and separates asset growth from liability reduction.

  1. Prepare the input

Enter snapshot date, account label, asset or liability type, positive value, optional evidence date, and note. Liabilities are entered as positive amounts owed. Use stable account labels across dates and choose an evidence-age limit appropriate for the asset; a bank balance may need fresher evidence than a periodic property estimate.

  2. Check the worked example

The example compares January and September snapshots for checking, retirement, and a student loan, then adds a new brokerage account. The retirement evidence is older than the selected 90-day limit and is flagged even though its value raises net worth.

  3. Read the evidence

Check opening and closing net worth, then inspect each contribution. A liability falling from 500 to 300 contributes positive 200 to net worth. Missing closing rows, absent evidence dates, and stale evidence are action items. A newly added account is review information, not automatically a problem.

Calculation method

Opening and closing dates are the earliest and latest snapshot_date values. Net worth = assets − liabilities. Accounts match on normalized label plus type. Net-worth contribution = closing minus opening for assets and the reverse for liabilities. Evidence age is closing snapshot date minus evidence date.

Questions this workflow helps answer

Use these questions to confirm that this tool matches the task you need to complete.

  • How can I reconcile a net-worth tracker spreadsheet to account evidence?
  • Which assets and liabilities explain the change in net worth between two dates?
  • Which accounts are missing, newly added, or supported by stale valuation evidence?

Limits and decision boundary

The tool does not price securities, property, pensions, currencies, taxes, liquidation costs, jointly held ownership, or contingent liabilities. Removing an account from the file is not evidence that it was closed. Intermediate snapshot dates are not charted in this release.

Common mistake

Do not enter liabilities as negative values. Use a positive amount owed and type liability so subtraction and payoff contributions remain unambiguous.

Your pasted values and selected CSV files are processed in this browser tab. This workflow does not connect to a bank, save a budget, or provide financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.

Questions about this workflow

Why did a paid-down loan improve net worth?

Liabilities are subtracted from assets. A smaller closing liability reduces what is owed, creating a positive net-worth contribution.

What happens to an account present only at the opening?

It is flagged as missing from the closing snapshot. Confirm closure, transfer, renaming, or an incomplete file before accepting the total.

Can I use estimated property values?

Yes, if you label the evidence and accept its limitations. Select a freshness threshold and keep the valuation method consistent between snapshots.
