How the assessment accommodation planner works
Each barrier is classified as access, response, or environment. The tool matches only supports marked “yes” in the same class. Unmatched barriers stay unresolved. It does not calculate an accommodation, infer disability, or recommend a legal decision. A mapped row means there is a candidate support to review. The team must confirm authorization, learner preference, implementation details, and whether the support preserves the knowledge or skill being measured.
01
Before generation
Confirm the assessment purpose, construct, standard conditions, and authorized decision process.
02
During review
Review each mapping for construct relevance and practical implementation.
03
Before use
Record only the authorized plan in the approved system and communicate it to responsible staff.

Assessment Accommodation Planner
Before generation
Use this planner before adapting an assessment when the team needs to distinguish the intended construct from barriers created by directions, response mode, timing, or environment. It creates an auditable conversation map; it never establishes eligibility.
Worked example
For a 50-minute science explanation, the example maps dense instructions to plain-language directions, sustained handwriting to speech-to-text review, and background noise to a low-distraction setting. The shared construct remains explaining how evidence supports a scientific claim.

How to interpret the result
A mapped row means there is a candidate support to review. The team must confirm authorization, learner preference, implementation details, and whether the support preserves the knowledge or skill being measured.
Common mistakes
Do not paste IEP records, diagnoses, or names. Do not treat extra time as the default solution. Do not remove a task feature when that feature is part of the construct. Rehearse approved assistive technology before assessment day.
Only the authorized school team can approve accommodations under the applicable plan, policy, and jurisdiction. This browser-local worksheet must not contain unnecessary disability or health information.
Review checklist
Human review before educational use
The construct is written separately from the response method.
Every support has a documented approval status.
Implementation preserves security and comparability where required.
The authorized team reviews and records the final decision.
Practical questions
Assessment Accommodation Planner questions
Does this decide which accommodation a learner receives?
No. It organizes supplied barriers and approved supports for team review.
Can a support change the assessed construct?
If it changes the knowledge or skill being measured, the team must treat that as a validity issue and follow policy.
Does Nirmion store the entries?
The staged tool calculates in the current browser tab and does not send field values to the API.
