How per-second and per-minute rates connect

Each source value is converted to cycles per second. Decimal hertz prefixes use powers of 1,000, while cycles or revolutions per minute divide by 60 before conversion to hertz.

When can revolutions per minute be converted to hertz?

The direct conversion assumes one complete revolution corresponds to one cycle of the phenomenon being described. That is valid for shaft rotation itself, but not automatically for blade-pass frequency, electrical cycles, gear teeth, poles, or repeated events per revolution. Apply the relevant event count separately when the system produces multiple cycles per turn.

Does the converter include radians per second?

No. Radians per second expresses angular frequency or angular velocity, and converting it to hertz introduces the factor 2 pi rather than a simple decimal prefix. Keeping it outside this selector prevents cycle frequency and angular rate from being silently treated as the same unit family.

Can a negative frequency be converted here?

This page converts non-negative frequency magnitude. Negative frequency can have a specific mathematical meaning in Fourier analysis or encode orientation in a signed model, but it is not a different measurement unit. Preserve that convention in the original analysis and use this workspace only for the magnitude scale.
