Prepare the input
Paste the final text, including headings and captions if they are part of the required limit. Remove boilerplate, navigation, or reviewer comments when the receiving platform will not count them.
Measure a draft without uploading it
Count words, characters, sentences, and blank-line paragraphs in one private browser workspace, with Unicode-aware word boundaries where the browser supports them.
Counting and transformations run locally. Nirmion does not send the text in this workspace to an API.
Product guide
Paste the final text, including headings and captions if they are part of the required limit. Remove boilerplate, navigation, or reviewer comments when the receiving platform will not count them.
No counting mode is hidden behind the action. Words are word-like Unicode segments; joined emoji and punctuation are not counted as words. Sentence and paragraph totals are supporting estimates, not grammar judgments.
Compare the word total with the exact rule used by your publisher, school, form, or ad platform. Copy the local report, or download a TXT report; downloading clears the active draft while keeping a re-download entry in this tab.
How it works
Modern browsers expose Intl.Segmenter, which identifies word-like segments across many scripts more reliably than splitting on spaces. If that interface is unavailable, Nirmion counts runs of Unicode letters, marks, and numbers, including common apostrophe or hyphen joins. Sentence boundaries use the same browser capability where possible, and paragraphs are blocks separated by one or more blank lines.
Useful when
The combined measures are most useful when length affects acceptance, reading effort, or production cost.
Questions answered
Practical boundaries matter with text tools. These answers explain what is measured, what is retained, and when a manual review is still needed.
Punctuation by itself does not count. The counter looks for word-like language or number segments. Apostrophes and hyphens can remain part of a fallback word, but the exact segmentation of unusual combinations depends on browser language rules.
Everything pasted into the source field is evaluated. Include headers, captions, references, and footnotes only when the rule you are following includes them. Nirmion cannot infer which parts a destination will ignore.
No source text is sent to the Nirmion API. The active draft and latest three result reports live in this page memory. A refresh or page close removes that in-memory history, while any downloaded file remains on your device.
Privacy and retention
Nirmion performs these operations with browser JavaScript. The workspace does not call the catalogue API with your source text, and completed-job content is kept only in this component memory for re-download.
A downloaded file remains in your browser downloads, device storage, backups, and any location where you share it. Clear or close the page when working on a shared device, and avoid pasting secrets into extensions or third-party clipboard managers.
Tool details
Nirmion Word Counter gives writers a fast word count together with character, sentence, and paragraph context. That makes it useful for essays, applications, web copy, briefs, proposals, and publishing workflows where a single total is not enough to understand the shape of a draft. The interface accepts up to 500,000 characters and performs the measurement in the browser.
Results can be copied or exported as text_nirmion_tools_word_report.txt. The tool does not claim that every external platform uses the same segmentation rules, so the page explains its Unicode-aware method and its fallback. For strict legal, academic, advertising, or form limits, compare the result with the destination before final submission.
