Verify an India vehicle's PUC certificate after testing

For an India-registered vehicle owner after a PUC test. The official Form 59 shows the certificate's identifying fields and test results. This guide checks for missing or mismatched records; it does not certify a vehicle as compliant or replace instructions from the issuing PUC centre or local transport authority.

MISSION Check that the Pollution Under Control Certificate received after an Indian vehicle emissions test identifies the right vehicle, contains a validity date, and agrees with the official vehicle-status record where available.

Check the vehicle on Parivahan's official status service

THE REAL-WORLD BIT

Inspect the issued certificate, compare its vehicle and validity details with Parivahan's status service, and ask the authorized test centre or transport authority to correct any missing or inconsistent record.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES

One step at a time.

Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.

  1. 01

Collect the certificate or rejection slip from the test centre

At the end of the emissions test, obtain the system-generated PUC certificate or the applicable rejection slip from the authorized testing centre. Parivahan Form 59 labels the certificate number, registration number, issue date and time, validity-until date, fuel/emission details and measured readings. Keep the original digital record and a readable copy; do not alter the certificate or rely on a payment receipt as proof that a certificate was issued.

  2. 02

Match the certificate to the vehicle and test

Compare the registration number on the certificate with the vehicle's Registration Certificate. Check the certificate serial number, test date/time, fuel or emission category, recorded measurements and validity-until date for blanks or obvious mismatches. If the centre provided a rejection slip or the certificate is missing a required field, contact that centre before treating the test as complete.

  3. 03

    Check the official vehicle-status record

Open Parivahan's official 'Know Your Vehicle Details' status service from a trusted bookmark or the Parivahan site. Enter the registration number and complete the displayed verification challenge; look for the PUCC status alongside the vehicle details. The service may be unavailable or may not display a result. A missing online result alone does not tell you why the record is absent, so keep the issued certificate and ask the testing centre to check its submission.

  4. 04

Resolve a mismatch with the issuer

If the certificate has the wrong registration, a missing expiry date, unclear readings or a status that disagrees with the issued record, contact the PUC testing centre with the certificate serial number and test date. Ask whether the record was generated and submitted correctly, and request a corrected certificate or written next step where needed. If the centre cannot resolve it, contact the relevant state transport authority through its official channel. Do not edit the PDF or assume an online status error extends the printed validity.

  5. 05

Save the record and track the printed validity date

Store the issued certificate and any correction response with the vehicle records. Note the validity-until date printed on the certificate and check the issuer or transport authority's current instructions for the vehicle's next test; do not infer a universal validity period from another vehicle class or state. Recheck the official status if a toll, enforcement or registration process specifically asks for it.
