Government & Identity · THE NO-PANIC PLAN
Update the address in your PAN record from Aadhaar
This guide is for an Indian citizen updating the address in an existing PAN database record to the address already present in Aadhaar. The current online e-KYC route does not let you type a different address: first update Aadhaar through UIDAI if it is out of date. PAN database updates, the Income Tax e-Filing profile, and a PAN application are separate tasks. Never share your PAN, Aadhaar number, OTP, or identity documents with a third party.
MISSION Update an existing Indian citizen's PAN database address to match the current address already recorded in linked Aadhaar, using an official PAN service provider and verifying the request outcome.

What happens outside this browser tab?
Check that the PAN and Aadhaar are linked and Aadhaar contains the address you want, start at Protean or UTIITSL's official address-update service, complete the provider's Aadhaar e-KYC, confirm the masked address, then keep the acknowledgement and verify the PAN record update.
YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES
One step at a time.
Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.
- 01
Confirm which address record you need to update
Decide whether you mean the address in the PAN database, the contact address in your Income Tax e-Filing profile, or the address stored in Aadhaar. This workflow covers only the PAN database address for an existing Indian citizen's PAN. Do not apply for a second PAN or assume that changing the e-Filing profile changes the PAN database. Check the address currently recorded in Aadhaar and confirm that Aadhaar is already linked to this PAN. If the Aadhaar address is wrong, do not submit the PAN update yet; start with UIDAI's current address-update process and wait for that request to be processed.
- 02
Check Aadhaar access and choose an official PAN provider
The Protean and UTIITSL address-update facilities use Aadhaar-based e-KYC; the contact details needed for authentication must be available through the current provider flow and linked to Aadhaar. Verify access to the registered mobile number and email before beginning. Open the service from Protean's or UTIITSL's own PAN-services site, check the domain carefully, and select the address-update facility for an existing PAN. Avoid advertisements, agents, and third-party forms that ask you to send PAN, Aadhaar, documents, or OTPs by email or messaging app. If the registered mobile or email is unavailable, use UIDAI's official guidance to resolve Aadhaar access first rather than repeatedly submitting failed PAN requests.
- 03
Complete the provider's Aadhaar e-KYC yourself
On the official service page, enter the requested PAN and identity details directly into the provider's secure form. Follow its current Aadhaar e-KYC or DigiLocker option and read the consent before submitting. An OTP may be sent to the mobile number or email associated with Aadhaar; enter it only on the official page you opened yourself. Never tell the OTP to a caller, agent, or person claiming to help. The provider obtains the address from UIDAI for this route, rather than accepting a free-typed replacement address. If authentication fails, stop and check that the PAN-Aadhaar link and registered contact details are correct through the official services.
- 04
Review the address shown before you confirm
Read the masked address displayed by the provider and compare every visible part with the address you intended to use. Submit only if the provider has fetched the correct Aadhaar address and the consent clearly matches an address update in the PAN database. If the address is wrong, incomplete, or not the one you want, cancel before confirmation and correct the Aadhaar record first. If the desired PAN address must differ from Aadhaar, this e-KYC workflow is not the right route; use the provider's current PAN change-request process and check its current form, evidence, and fee requirements directly. Do not guess the process or pay an unofficial intermediary.
- 05
Keep the acknowledgement and verify completion
After successful submission, save the on-screen acknowledgement or request reference and the provider's confirmation message in a private location. The providers state that the request is processed for updating the PAN database and that an intimation is sent after an update; allow the provider's stated processing time and use only its current reference/status or support channel if the confirmation does not arrive. Mark the task complete when the official provider confirms the update; if you need to verify the address currently recorded, ask through the provider's official channel rather than assuming every status screen displays it. If the request is pending, rejected, or shows a mismatch, follow the specific status instructions instead of filing duplicates. The optional browser-local Address Change Checklist can organize non-sensitive task labels and follow-up dates only. Never enter PAN, Aadhaar, the full address, OTP, contact details, or document images in Nirmion.
