Track and follow up on an EPFO claim

Use EPFO's own member and passbook services to check a submitted claim, then use EPFiGMS for a documented follow-up if you still need help. Keep your UAN, password, OTP, and financial details inside EPFO's official services.

MISSION Check the status of an EPF claim and follow up with EPFO if the status is missing, unclear, or unresolved.

Check status on EPFO's official portal

THE REAL-WORLD BIT

What happens outside this browser tab?

Identify the submitted claim and its reference, check the live EPFO Passbook & Claim Status service, compare the result with your acknowledgement and account entries, and lodge and track an EPFiGMS grievance when the official status is missing or needs explanation.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES

One step at a time.

Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.

  1. 01

    Find the claim acknowledgement

Locate the EPFO acknowledgement, SMS, email, or application history for the claim you already submitted. Note the claim or tracking reference, submission date, claim type, and relevant Member ID. Do not submit a second claim just because the first status is slow or unclear; first check the existing reference and current EPFO guidance.

  2. 02

Check status in EPFO's Passbook & Claim Status service

Open the official EPFO Passbook & Claim Status portal from an epfindia.gov.in address. Sign in with your own UAN and password and complete the portal's current verification prompt. Review the claim status or claim entry shown for the relevant member account. If the page is unavailable, try later or use EPFO's official member portal; never give your password or OTP to a caller, agent, or third-party site.

  3. 03

Compare the result with your records

Match the displayed claim type and status with your acknowledgement and submission date. Check the passbook or member-portal summary for a corresponding withdrawal or payment entry, but do not treat a missing or delayed passbook update by itself as proof that EPFO rejected the claim. Save the status date and reference privately so you can describe the issue accurately if you need help.

  4. 04

Raise an EPFiGMS grievance if the status needs action

If the claim is missing, the result conflicts with your acknowledgement, or you need an explanation or follow-up, open EPFO's official EPFiGMS portal and register a grievance about the existing claim. Use the claim details requested by EPFiGMS, describe the discrepancy and dates, and attach only relevant evidence through that portal. EPFiGMS may use OTP verification; enter it only on the official site or UMANG app. Do not upload unrelated identity or bank records.

  5. 05

Track the grievance and keep its acknowledgement

Save the EPFiGMS registration number and acknowledgement. Use EPFiGMS's View Status option to check the response; use Send Reminder for a pending grievance when the portal offers it. If you still need help, contact EPFO using contact details reached from its official website. EPFO says it does not ask members for passwords, OTPs, bank details, or deposits over calls or messages.
