Resolve an Indian mobile service complaint through the provider
TRAI requires telecom providers to offer a two-tier complaint process. Start with your provider's complaint centre, keep its docket number, and appeal to that provider's Appellate Authority if the issue is not resolved in the applicable time. TRAI says it does not handle individual consumer complaints.
MISSION Follow India's telecom complaint process from the provider's complaint centre to its Appellate Authority when a mobile service complaint is unresolved.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES
One step at a time.
Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.
- 01
Identify the provider and the service issue
Write down the mobile number or account, the affected service, dates, what happened, and the specific correction you want. Keep relevant bills, recharge or payment references, and earlier provider messages available. Use TRAI's grievance page to find your provider's complaint-centre contact and Appellate Authority details; these contacts depend on the provider.
- 02
Register the complaint with your provider first
Contact the provider's Complaint Centre using a channel listed for that provider on TRAI's grievance page or the provider's official service channel. Explain the issue and requested resolution. TRAI says the provider should register the complaint and send a docket number, registration date and time, and an expected resolution time by SMS. Save that message and any supporting reference.
- 03
Track the docket and the applicable response period
Use the docket number in follow-up with the provider. Record its stated response deadline and keep the provider's SMS, email, or other action notice. Resolution periods can depend on the issue and applicable Quality of Service rules; TRAI's FAQ says complaints without a separately specified period must be addressed within three days. Do not assume every billing or network issue has the same deadline.
- 04
Appeal to the provider's Appellate Authority if needed
If you are dissatisfied with the Complaint Centre's resolution, or the issue remains unresolved after the applicable period, use the Appellate Authority listed for your provider on TRAI's grievance page. Include the original docket, timeline, provider response, evidence, and requested remedy. TRAI's FAQ says to file within 30 days after the complaint-resolution period expires; check the current provider instructions and applicable rule before filing.
- 05
Keep the appeal acknowledgement and decision
Save proof that the appeal was submitted and keep the provider's decision with the original docket and evidence. Follow any next step stated by the Appellate Authority. Individual telecom complaints go through the provider's two-tier process; TRAI sets the framework but does not adjudicate an individual subscriber's case.
