Confirm this is the right visa route and allow time
Use this workflow only for an Indian passport holder filing in India for tourism for less than three months, with France as the main Schengen destination. If another Schengen country is the main destination, apply through that country?s official route; work, study, family settlement, long stays and special applicant categories also differ. France-Visas says an application cannot be submitted more than six months before departure, appointment waits vary, and the local instructions define the filing window. Start early and check current appointment availability; do not treat a published minimum filing interval as a safe processing estimate.

Run the France-Visas assistant and complete the online form
On France-Visas, enter the applicant?s nationality, residence/application country, passport details, trip dates and tourism purpose in the official visa assistant. Confirm whether a visa is required and select the resulting short-stay visa type. Use the assistant?s personalized supporting-document list, complete the online form consistently with the itinerary and evidence, then save/print the final form and receipt exactly as instructed. Check names, passport number, dates and main destination across every document before submitting; do not use unofficial agents or imitation sites.

Build the ordered pack from the applicant-specific checklist
Follow the exact checklist produced by France-Visas for this applicant and the France-in-India page. Prepare the current passport, required originals and photocopies, ICAO-standard photos, final application form/receipt, and only the itinerary, accommodation, financial, insurance, employment/study, invitation, translation or other evidence requested for this profile. Keep truthful records; never edit evidence to fit a requirement. Arrange the file in checklist order and note any item that needs clarification with the official channel rather than guessing. Book and attend the official VFS appointment
Open the VFS India booking route from the France-Visas India page, verify the centre and appointment confirmation, and use only the authorized France appointment channel. Applicants filing in India submit in person by appointment. Bring the printed confirmation and the required document file in the checklist order, pay the current official visa and service fees through the stated channel, and provide biometrics when required. If a required item is missing, the France-Visas India instructions say you may defer submission and book again; if you submit incomplete, the centre records that fact. VFS collects the application; the French consulates/Embassy decide whether to issue the visa.

Track the case and verify the passport on return
Keep the receipt, reference number and official tracking instructions. Follow the France-Visas or linked VFS status route and use the India page?s current passport-return instructions. If the case is delayed or the status is unclear, contact the named official centre/consular channel rather than paying an intermediary. When the passport returns, check the visa sticker?s identity details, validity dates, entries and permitted stay before travel; report a discrepancy through the official channel. A complete file or appointment does not guarantee issuance, and a visa does not replace border-entry conditions.
