Pay an India credit card bill through an issuer-authorized mode

For India-issued credit cards from banks or NBFCs. The issuer's website and billing statement list the payment modes it authorizes. Use those account-specific instructions, confirm the bill and payee before approving a transaction, and keep its receipt until the issuer reflects the payment. This guide cannot access your card or initiate a payment.

MISSION Pay an India-issued credit card bill only through a payment mode the issuer lists as authorized, then verify the transaction and posted status.

Confirm the current bill and due date, find the issuer's published authorized payment modes, pay using one of those modes without sharing authentication secrets, save the receipt, and verify that the issuer has credited the payment.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES

One step at a time.

Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.

  1. 01

    Confirm the bill and account

Open the current statement through the issuer's official app or website reached from a known bookmark, or use the statement already received. Confirm the card?s last four digits, billing period, total amount due, minimum due, due date and any credits or reversals shown. Do not rely on an unexpected message or caller for a payment link, amount or account number.

  2. 02

Find a payment mode the issuer authorizes

Check the issuer's current website and billing statement for its own list of authorized payment modes. RBI directions require card issuers to provide that list and advise cardholders to avoid other modes. If an option is missing or its payee is unclear, stop and confirm it with the issuer through the contact details on the statement before proceeding.

  3. 03

Review the payment before authorizing it

Use only the payment service and payee identified by the issuer's instructions. Before confirming, match the card reference, amount and payment account; save or note the transaction reference. Do not share a PIN, OTP, password or full card credentials with a person who calls or messages you, and do not approve an unexpected authentication request.

  4. 04

Keep the receipt and check for posting

Save the payment receipt with the date, amount, payment mode and transaction reference. Reopen the issuer's app or statement through its official channel and verify that the payment is credited to the correct card. A success screen from a payment app is not by itself confirmation that the issuer has posted the payment.

  5. 05

Resolve a missing, reversed or misapplied payment

If the payment is not reflected, shows a reversal, or appears on the wrong card, first check the payment service?s transaction status and reference; avoid making a duplicate payment until you know whether the first one settled or reversed. Contact the payment service and issuer through their verified channels, provide the reference and request a trace. Keep the written response and next due-date action in your private records; do not claim a payment is complete until the issuer confirms it.
