Change Your Maharashtra Driving Licence Address Through Sarathi

Maharashtra's Motor Vehicles Department lists a Sarathi faceless service for changing the address on a driving licence. Its published manual describes an Aadhaar e-KYC route in which the applicant authenticates with an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and the selected licence address is fetched from Aadhaar. The route depends on the name and date of birth matching the driving-licence record, and service screens, eligibility, fees, and RTO handling can change. This guide covers that Maharashtra route only; it is not a generic procedure for every Indian state or for correcting identity details.

MISSION Guide a Maharashtra driving-licence holder through the state's Aadhaar e-KYC faceless address-change route on Sarathi, including eligibility checks, address selection, submission, payment, and RTO follow-up.

THE REAL-WORLD BIT

What happens outside this browser tab?

Confirm the Maharashtra licence record and Aadhaar e-KYC prerequisites; open the official Sarathi state service and choose the faceless address-change option; retrieve and review the licence record; authenticate Aadhaar; select present address, permanent address, or both and check the fetched address; submit the declaration and save the acknowledgement; pay the amount shown by the live portal and track RTO scrutiny/endorsement.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES

One step at a time.

Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.

  1. 01

Check whether the Maharashtra faceless route fits your record

Use this guide only for a driving licence handled through Maharashtra's Sarathi service and only if the faceless Change of Address option is available for your record. The state's manual describes Aadhaar e-KYC, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and an exact name/date-of-birth match between Aadhaar and the licence as prerequisites. The address selected for the licence is fetched from Aadhaar in this route. If your Aadhaar address is not the address you want, your name or date of birth differs, or the DL record cannot be retrieved, stop and ask the relevant RTO about the correct non-faceless route before submitting.

  2. 02

    Open Maharashtra's official Sarathi service

Reach Sarathi from the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Department's current faceless-services page, or open the official Ministry Sarathi portal directly. Select Maharashtra as the state and choose the faceless Change of Address in DL service if the portal offers it for your record. The service listing and page labels may vary after portal updates, so use the live state menu and the current Maharashtra department link rather than a third-party agent or old bookmarked form. If the option is absent, check with your RTO instead of selecting an unrelated DL service.

  3. 03

Retrieve the licence record and confirm it is the right one

Enter the driving-licence number and date of birth in the official Sarathi form and request the licence details. The Maharashtra manual says the portal fetches the DL record and then asks the applicant to select the RTO and proceed. Review the displayed name, licence details, and issuing authority before continuing. If the record is missing, belongs to another person, or contains a mismatch, do not continue by guessing or retrying unverified details; use the Maharashtra regional-office directory to contact the RTO responsible for the record.

  4. 04

Complete Aadhaar e-KYC on the official Sarathi page

Review the declaration, choose Aadhaar authentication, and complete the e-KYC steps shown on the live Sarathi page. The Maharashtra manual says an OTP is sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar and that the name and date of birth in Aadhaar should exactly match the driving-licence record. Enter the Aadhaar number and OTP only in the official portal. If authentication fails or the details do not match, stop and resolve the record with the responsible department; do not share the OTP with an agent or put it into a Nirmion tool.

  5. 05

Choose which licence address to change and review the fetched value

The documented faceless service lets the applicant select permanent address, present address, or both. Review the Aadhaar address that the portal fetches for each selected field, including locality, district, state, and PIN code, before confirming. The manual describes the present address as the address to be printed on the licence and shows the selected address being populated from Aadhaar. Do not submit if the fetched address is incomplete or not the address you intend to use; correct the underlying Aadhaar record first or ask the RTO for another applicable route.

  6. 06

Submit the declaration and save the acknowledgement

After reviewing the selected address, confirm the declaration, complete the captcha, and submit through Sarathi. The Maharashtra manual shows a submission notification followed by an acknowledgement slip. Save the acknowledgement privately and use its application number on the official status service for follow-up. For this documented faceless Aadhaar-authenticated route, the manual says address-proof upload is exempted; follow the live portal if it now asks for a document or changes the flow. Do not upload your licence, Aadhaar, or acknowledgement to Nirmion.

  7. 07

Pay the current portal fee and track RTO approval

Continue to the Sarathi fee-payment screen and pay only the amount displayed for your selected service and state; do not rely on the fee printed in the older Maharashtra manual. Save the payment receipt separately from your identity documents. The manual describes an RTO-side scrutiny and DL endorsement approval after payment, followed by print initiation, so submission alone does not mean the updated licence is issued. Use the official application-status route and contact the relevant Maharashtra RTO if the application is returned, remains unresolved, or the updated record is not available after approval.
