Confirm that PCC is the right service and define its country
Ask the requesting embassy, immigration office or employer which country and purpose must appear on the certificate, how recent it must be, and whether an apostille or other authentication is required. Passport Seva says one PCC application covers only one country. The official Passport Seva manual states that PCC is a miscellaneous service for a holder of a valid Indian passport and is not submitted together with a passport re-issue application; if the passport is expired or personal particulars need correction, resolve the correct passport service first using the current portal. Record the destination country, request date and application deadline, but do not assume the PCC alone satisfies the receiving authority.

Use the PCC Document Advisor for your address and passport situation
On the official Passport Seva PCC Document Advisor, answer whether current particulars have changed and whether the present address differs from the passport. Follow the resulting case-specific checklist rather than a generic internet list. Prepare the existing Indian passport, the required original supporting documents and self-attested copies, and evidence for any changed address/name or other particulars requested by the live advisor. If the applicant is under four, the PCC application guide says to carry a recent 4.5 ? 3.5 cm passport-size photo with a white background; Passport Photo Maker ID 122 can prepare that image locally, but it does not validate the rest of the documents or guarantee official acceptance. Keep originals secure and never upload identity documents to Nirmion.

Submit the online PCC form and save its reference number
Register or sign in at passportindia.gov.in, select ?Apply for Police Clearance Certificate,? choose the Regional Passport Office based on the current portal guidance, and complete the six displayed sections: Passport Type, Applicant Details, Family Details, Address Details, Other Details, and Self Declaration. Copy names, passport number, address and dates exactly from the supporting records and state the intended destination country. Review every field before submission: Passport Seva warns that submitted particulars cannot be edited. Submit once the information is correct, then save the Application Reference Number (ARN) and a private copy of the submitted application. The portal permits saving an incomplete form to resume later; an unsubmitted draft is not an appointment.

Pay the displayed fee and book the PSK appointment
From the submitted application, open View > Pay and Schedule Appointment, use the current fee/payment instructions and the official fee screen, then choose an available Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) shown for the selected office. Do not rely on a copied fee amount because Passport Seva posts fee-change notices; pay only inside the official portal. After successful payment, confirm that the appointment page shows the date, centre and appointment number, and save the SMS or receipt. Passport Seva says its PCC appointment can be rescheduled only once within a year of the first appointment date, so book a date you can attend.

Attend with originals and follow the verification outcome
Attend the booked PSK/POPSK or Passport Office with the original passport and every original plus self-attested copy required by your personalized advisor; the appointment SMS is accepted as proof, though you can print the receipt. Do not assume issuance is same-day: Passport Seva may require police verification, including where the address or particulars differ or the existing record needs a fresh report. Track the ARN through official status channels, respond to any request from the Passport Office, and complete any further police or collection step stated in that notice. When issued, check your name, passport particulars, destination country and certificate details against the request. If the appointment is missed, the portal says resubmission is required if you do not visit within 90 days of online submission; use the current portal instructions for the next action.
