Apply for an Indian passport re-issue through Passport Seva
For an Indian citizen who already holds or held the passport category being applied for and needs a re-issue. Passport Seva distinguishes fresh applications from re-issue, and the required documents depend on the applicant, service reason and current Passport Office instructions. This workflow does not submit the application or decide eligibility.
MISSION Complete an Indian passport re-issue application through the Ministry of External Affairs Passport Seva service, using the case-specific document advisor, an appointment at the selected service centre and application-status tracking.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES
One step at a time.
Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.
- 01
Confirm the re-issue service and reason
Use the official Passport Seva FAQ to distinguish a fresh passport from re-issue. Select re-issue if you already held the passport category and your case fits a listed reason, such as expiry, changed particulars or another re-issue service. Choose the Normal or Tatkaal route only after reading current eligibility and service conditions; if your situation does not match the official options, ask Passport Seva before submitting.
- 02
Generate a document list for your exact case
Open Passport Seva?s Document Advisor and select the options that match the applicant?s age, employment category, address change, Non-ECR status and application type. Check the jurisdictional Passport Office page for any additional requirement. Use Nirmion?s Passport Renewal Checklist to organize the items shown by the official advisor, but follow the live advisor if the tool?s generic checklist differs. The Nirmion tool does not determine eligibility or verify documents.
- 03
Complete and carefully review the online application
Register or sign in through the official Passport Seva portal or app, choose the re-issue service and complete the form with information matching your supporting records. Review names, dates, address and the selected service reason before submitting; Passport Seva warns that applicant-entered errors can delay or require correction of the passport. Save the application reference number and a copy of the submitted details.
- 04
Pay the current fee and book an appointment
Use the fee shown on the official Passport Seva portal for the selected applicant, service and Normal/Tatkaal option; do not rely on an old fee table or a payment link sent by an unknown person. After submission, use the portal?s Pay and Schedule Appointment flow to select an available Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. Save the payment receipt, appointment confirmation and reference number.
- 05
Attend the appointment and track the application
Bring the originals and the number and format of self-attested copies specified by the current Document Advisor, plus the appointment confirmation and application reference. Review the entered particulars when the counter staff asks you to verify them. Keep the acknowledgement and follow Passport Seva status messages; complete police verification or provide additional documents if the authority requests them. Do not assume an issue date until Passport Seva confirms dispatch or delivery.
