THE REAL-WORLD BIT

What happens outside this browser tab?

Check the live scheme and eligibility first, create or reuse one official OTR, complete the student application and selected scheme form, final-submit before its deadline, then monitor institute/department verification and payment status.

YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES

One step at a time.

Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.

  1. 01

Choose the correct open scheme and verify eligibility

Go to scholarships.gov.in and select the active academic year. In Schemes on NSP, open the exact scholarship?s specification and FAQ; check fresh versus renewal eligibility, course/institute rules, required evidence and separate student, institute and nodal verification deadlines. Use the official eligibility checker if helpful and confirm the scheme is open before spending time on the form. AY 2026?27 rules permit only one merit-based scheme and more than one welfare-based scheme only where the student qualifies; recheck the current portal because scheme categories and deadlines change each year.

  2. 02

Create or retrieve your single NSP One Time Registration

If you do not already have an NSP OTR, start OTR only from scholarships.gov.in. The current portal says OTR is mandatory and is a unique 14-digit number based on Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrolment ID for the student?s academic career. Follow the live OTR instructions for an active mobile, eKYC and face authentication; do not create a second OTR for the same student. OTR itself is free according to the official OTR FAQ. Aadhaar, EID, passwords and OTPs belong only on the official government authentication flow, never in a Nirmion tool, chatbot or message. Generating an OTR is not the same as submitting a scholarship application.

  3. 03

Start the correct fresh or renewal application

On the NSP Students page, open Apply For Scholarship and sign in with the currently supported credential. Complete Basic Information, including general, academic and application-specific details, and verify the institution/course against the official institute listing. For a fresh application, choose Apply Fresh, read and accept the portal instructions, select the scholarship application type and generate an Application ID; then open My Applications, choose Proceed and Fill/Edit Application Form. For renewal, select the existing application path described by NSP and confirm that the prior record is linked to the correct student.

  4. 04

Complete the selected scheme form and final-submit it

Review the scheme list shown for your details, select the intended scheme and compare every field with its official requirements. Enter accurate academic, domicile, category/income and bank/payment information only when required by that scheme; upload only the stated documents in the requested format. Stop to resolve name, date-of-birth, institution or eligibility mismatches through the official correction route before submission. Review the full preview, submit using Final Submit, and save the Application ID and acknowledgement. A saved OTR, incomplete draft or generated Application ID alone is not proof that the scholarship form was finally submitted.

  5. 05

Track verification, correct defects, and check payment separately

Log back in and open My Applications to confirm the application status. Check the exact scheme?s student, institute and nodal-officer dates: institute verification is a separate stage, so ask the institute nodal officer promptly if the application is awaiting their action. If marked defective, follow the portal?s correction path and deadline shown for that application; some submitted identity details cannot simply be edited, so use only the official process. After approval, use the payment/status link provided by NSP (including PFMS where applicable). Keep the acknowledgement and do not treat ?submitted,? ?verified,? ?selected,? and ?paid? as interchangeable outcomes.
