Government & Identity · THE NO-PANIC PLAN
Apply for a Karnataka residence or domicile certificate through Nadakacheri
This guide is limited to a Karnataka residence/domicile certificate request through the Revenue Department's Nadakacheri (Atalji Janasnehi Kendra) service. The exact certificate name, eligibility and supporting records depend on why you need it and the applicable Karnataka or district rules. A residence certificate is not automatically proof of domicile for every admission, job, scheme or reservation requirement. Confirm the receiving institution's exact certificate wording and ask the issuing Taluk/revenue office which current service to choose. Use only the Karnataka government portal linked by an official district site; do not upload identity records to a generic Nirmion utility.
MISSION Help a Karnataka resident identify the correct residence or domicile certificate service, prepare locally accepted evidence, apply through Nadakacheri or an authorized centre, and track the official decision.

Confirm the authority requesting the certificate and the Karnataka certificate category it accepts; check the applicable Nadakacheri service and local document checklist; prepare evidence that matches the applicant and residence claim; submit through the official portal or authorized Nadakacheri centre and preserve the acknowledgement/RD number; monitor status, answer a request for information, and download or collect the certificate only after the Revenue authority issues it.
YOUR CHECKLIST, WITH FEWER DRAMATIC SIGHES
One step at a time.
Follow the order below. If a step names a Nirmion tool, its link is right there with it.
- 01
Confirm the receiving authority's exact certificate requirement
Ask the school, employer, exam body, scheme administrator or other receiving authority what it accepts: residence certificate, domicile certificate, or a separate eligibility certificate. Confirm the required jurisdiction, applicant age, residence-period rule, issue date and any form or wording it requires. Karnataka district guidance lists Residence/Domicile certificates under Revenue services, but a local certificate should not be assumed to satisfy a separate state, admission or reservation rule. If the requirement is ambiguous, ask the receiving authority and your Taluk/revenue office before paying or applying; the certificate issuer decides eligibility under the rules that apply to your case.
- 02
Choose the matching Nadakacheri service and verify its live checklist
Start at the official Nadakacheri AJSK portal linked from a Karnataka government district service page. Select the residence or domicile service that matches the authority's requirement; do not choose caste, income, land or another similarly named certificate. Read the current eligibility, required declarations, document types and submission channel shown for that service. District-level directions can differ, and online service labels or requirements may change. If the portal does not clearly identify the certificate you need, contact the Taluk office or an authorized Atalji Janasnehi Kendra before submitting so your application is routed to the right Revenue authority.
- 03
Prepare consistent proof for the applicant and residence claim
Use the live service checklist rather than a generic internet list. Gather the records the portal or Taluk office currently asks for, which may include identity, address or residence evidence, a declaration, and records relevant to the stated purpose or period. Confirm names, dates and address details match across the form and copies; note any spelling difference and ask how the issuing office wants it explained. Keep originals safe and provide them for inspection only through the official process. Do not assume Aadhaar alone proves domicile, that one document applies to every district, or that uploading extra sensitive records strengthens an application.
- 04
Submit through Nadakacheri and save the official acknowledgement
Use the portal reached from the Karnataka government district page or apply through an authorized Nadakacheri/AJSK centre if the service requires assistance or online submission is unavailable. Enter the applicant and service details exactly as supported by the evidence, attach only the documents requested, check the selected certificate type and Taluk details, and review all declarations before submitting. Pay only the amount displayed in the official channel, if a fee is due. Save or print the acknowledgement, application/RD number, date and payment receipt; if an operator submits it, ask for the official acknowledgement before leaving. Submission is not approval.
- 05
Track the Revenue Department's decision and retrieve the certificate
Check application status using the acknowledgement or RD number on the official Nadakacheri service. Monitor requests for clarification and respond through the stated government channel, retaining receipts and copies. The issuing Revenue authority may verify the information or request additional evidence; do not rely on an unofficial agent's promise of approval or timing. When the application is approved, retrieve the certificate using the portal's official print/download function or the route specified by the Taluk office, then check the applicant name, residence details, certificate type, issuing authority and any validity or purpose notation. If rejected, read the official reason and ask the office about correction or appeal options before submitting again.
