TEMPORARY MEDIA WORKSPACE / VIDEO COMPRESSOR
Reduce a video for easier sharing with a controlled H.264 MP4 profile, an optional maximum resolution, and measured output details.
The processor required by this tool is available, and this worker can accept a temporary job.

The selected bytes are sent only to the Nirmion media API for this request. Processing uses a private temporary workspace rather than permanent catalogue storage.
Server-side source and result files are removed when the response stream closes. Re-downloads use the result Blob retained only in this browser tab.
Nirmion writes a separately named result containing nirmion_tools and never overwrites the selected source file.
Know the product contract
Every media page documents the accepted source, the selected FFmpeg transformation, the output container, and the limits that can affect the job.
Use a readable video up to 30 minutes and 50 MB. A source already compressed aggressively may have little safe size reduction left.
FFmpeg decodes the source, scales it only when requested, encodes H.264 video with a bounded quality profile, and encodes available audio as AAC.
The result is a broadly playable MP4. Compare visual detail and audio sync before deleting or archiving the source.
Plain-language method
Compression is lossy. Stronger compression and lower resolution can reduce file size, but cannot restore detail later.
Use a readable video up to 30 minutes and 50 MB. A source already compressed aggressively may have little safe size reduction left.
Start with Balanced and 720p for everyday sharing. Use Gentle or the original resolution when fine text and faces matter.
The result is a broadly playable MP4. Compare visual detail and audio sync before deleting or archiving the source.

Container and codec
The output is MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio when audio exists. Source metadata and alternate tracks are not preserved as an archive copy.
Know the boundary
The final size depends on duration, motion, noise, source codec, and audio. A very short or already efficient source can occasionally become similar in size or larger.
Quick answers
These answers describe the actual upload, FFmpeg processing, download, and temporary-retention contract.
No. If the source has audio, it is encoded as AAC and kept in the MP4.
No. The profiles control quality and dimensions, not an exact byte target.
No. The download has a separate nirmion_tools filename.
