Seeking can land on the nearest decodable frame. JPG adds lossy compression; PNG is lossless but often larger.

Will it crop to 16:9?

No. It preserves the source frame ratio and scales proportionally.

Does it upscale small video?

No. Width acts as a maximum.

Are subtitle tracks visible?

Only subtitles already burned into the video pixels appear.
