How to use the Savings Rate Change Simulator
Use this to quantify the effect of changing a chosen savings percentage before revising a monthly budget.
What to enter
Enter one monthly net income and two percentages from 0 to 100. Both rates apply to the same income, so any change in income needs a separate run.
Worked example
At 3,000.00 monthly income, changing from 10% to 15% raises modeled savings from 300.00 to 450.00: 150.00 more per month.
How to read the result
The signed monthly change shows the difference between rounded amounts. The annual figure repeats that same monthly difference twelve times, with no return assumed.
Method
Multiply monthly income by each rate, round both amounts to cents, subtract old from new, and multiply that monthly difference by 12.
What to check
The model holds income constant. It does not account for investment growth, taxes, employer matching, fees, or affordability of either rate.
Avoid this mistake
Comparing rates using different income bases or reading the annualized difference as a guaranteed investment balance.
Calculations run locally in your browser. No entered values are sent to the Nirmion API.
Questions to check
Can the new rate be lower?
Yes. A negative difference then shows a smaller modeled monthly savings amount.
Are rates capped?
Yes. Both are between 0 and 100 percent.
Does this recommend a rate?
No. It only compares the rates you enter.
