How every power unit passes through watts

The input is multiplied by its watts-per-unit factor and the resulting watt value is divided by the destination factor. The horsepower and BTU labels remain explicit so convention differences cannot disappear behind rounding.

Are mechanical and metric horsepower identical?

No. Mechanical horsepower and metric horsepower are separate conventions with different watt factors. The selector labels mechanical horsepower as hp and metric horsepower as PS, and the result table keeps both. Match the source plate, standard, or specification instead of choosing horsepower from the word alone.

Can this convert kilowatts to kilowatt-hours?

Not without elapsed time. A kilowatt is a power rate, while a kilowatt-hour is an amount of energy. Multiply average kilowatts by operating hours to estimate kilowatt-hours, then account separately for changing loads during the interval, efficiency, standby consumption, and measurement uncertainty when those factors matter.

Does converted input power equal useful output power?

Not necessarily. This tool changes only the unit label and numeric scale of the supplied power. Motors, engines, heaters, inverters, and other equipment can lose energy or report ratings at different boundaries. Confirm whether the source means input, shaft, thermal, apparent, or another defined power before comparison.
