Transparent method
How the dilution investigation concept diagnostic works
Conserved solute gives C1V1 equals C2V2, so final concentration C2 equals stock concentration C1 times transferred volume V1 divided by final total volume V2. A larger final volume produces dilution. Supported means both the calculated concentration and direction agree with the bounded model. A conflict may reflect wrong final volume, inverted ratio, mixed units, or an unsupported assumption. Review apparatus, uncertainty, safety, and the actual protocol.

Before generation
Confirm the question, source, units, notation, response coding, model assumptions, and review threshold. Keep an unchanged copy of the original evidence.
02
During review
Run the worked example, inspect every intermediate row, and compare it with a hand calculation, diagram, representation, or approved subject method.

Before use
Record the method, assumptions, units, classifications, and flagged rows. Verify the editable report independently before educational or laboratory use.
How to interpret the result
Dilution Investigation Concept Diagnostic
Before generation
Use for a bounded dilution check after quantities and units are known. It does not infer a stock recipe, handle reactions, mixing volume changes, serial uncertainty, hazardous preparation, clinical dosing, or laboratory authorization.
Worked example
Two molar stock transferred as ten millilitres and diluted to 100 millilitres becomes 0.2 molar. A 1.5 stock transferred as 20 and completed to 60 becomes 0.5. Equal transferred and final volumes remain unchanged. The final learner value misses a threefold dilution.
Formula or methodology
Conserved solute gives C1V1 equals C2V2, so final concentration C2 equals stock concentration C1 times transferred volume V1 divided by final total volume V2. A larger final volume produces dilution.
How to interpret the result
Supported means both the calculated concentration and direction agree with the bounded model. A conflict may reflect wrong final volume, inverted ratio, mixed units, or an unsupported assumption. Review apparatus, uncertainty, safety, and the actual protocol.
Common mistakes
Do not use solvent-added volume as final volume, invert V1 and V2, mix millilitres and litres inconsistently, assume concentration stays constant, round early, or use this classroom check to prepare hazardous or clinical solutions.
