Step 1 / source
Choose the source
Drop one file here
Choose a BibTeX file whose structure you understand. The browser validates the selected extension and signature before processing it.
Checking publication status...LOCAL DATABASE WORKSPACE / BIBTEX TO SQL INSERT
Convert BibTeX into SQL INSERT locally, with explicit format controls, bounded validation, a reviewable preview when practical, and a separately named download.
Step 1 / source
Choose a BibTeX file whose structure you understand. The browser validates the selected extension and signature before processing it.
Checking publication status...The BibTeX bytes are processed inside this browser tab. Only ordinary catalogue and telemetry requests may reach Nirmion; selected file contents are not included.
The converter creates a separately named output. It never writes back into the source file.
One .bib file up to 5 MB. Processing is bounded to protect browser memory; malformed, encrypted, unsupported, or structurally excessive input is rejected.
Plain-language method
The browser parses BibTeX records, quotes identifiers and scalar values for the selected SQL dialect, applies the empty-cell rule, and groups rows into bounded INSERT statements. It generates text only and never connects to or executes against a database.
Use a well-formed BibTeX source with a consistent record or document structure. Repair invalid syntax and remove unsupported encryption before conversion.
Choose only settings supported by the destination workflow. Defaults favour readable, interoperable SQL INSERT output; dialect, delimiter, worksheet, naming, null, page, and indentation choices should match the receiving application.
Open the downloaded SQL INSERT file in its intended application and verify record counts, field names, character encoding, and any destination-specific behavior before replacing an established workflow.
WORKED EXAMPLE / REVIEW BEFORE RELYING
Use a short, non-sensitive sample first. This example shows the checkpoints to apply before moving an authorised dataset into the destination workflow.
Start with sample.bib containing two reviewed records and stable column names.
Choose the destination dialect, table identifier, empty-cell rule, and a two-row statement batch.
Inspect the generated SQL INSERT text for two escaped values per field, then test it only in an isolated database.
Useful when
Before converting
Know the boundary
The output is inert SQL text in Nirmion, but executing it can modify a database. Identifier quoting and value escaping do not confirm table compatibility, permissions, constraints, transaction strategy, or backup readiness. Review the script and run it first against an isolated test database.
Quick answers
These answers describe the exact local conversion boundary and the checks still owned by the reviewer.
No. The selected BibTeX file is read by browser APIs and transformed in this page. Nirmion does not receive its bytes through the catalogue API, and the source selection is cleared after a successful run. The generated download remains available only in the current page until you reset, refresh, or close it.
The converter preserves the supported record values and structure described on this page, but SQL INSERT cannot represent every BibTeX feature identically. Styling, formulas, metadata, namespaces, type annotations, comments, or application-specific extensions may be normalised or omitted. Compare the preview and downloaded artifact with the source before using it in production.
Check the record and field counts shown after conversion, then open the result in the application that will consume it. Verify headers, null handling, numeric interpretation, character encoding, and any selected dialect or formatting options. For database scripts or generated code, review and test the file in an isolated environment before execution or integration.
