Temporary server workspace

How physical video rotation works

Physical rotation improves compatibility but requires re-encoding. It is not a lossless metadata-only edit.

The result is an H.264 MP4 with available AAC audio. Rotation metadata is replaced by physically transformed frames.

The tool cannot rotate only part of a clip or correct a gradually tilted horizon. It applies one fixed angle to every frame.

Questions before you process media

Is 270 degrees the same as turning left?

Yes. A 270 degree clockwise turn is equivalent to a 90 degree counter-clockwise turn.

Will the frame dimensions change?

A 90 or 270 degree rotation swaps width and height; 180 keeps the same dimensions.

Is this only a metadata change?

No. Frames are physically transformed for consistent playback.
